You know I love me some DIY skincare, right? But I’ve been hesitant to jump on the diy deodorant bandwagon. It just seems messy and minimally effective. Plus I’ve heard a lot about the baking soda having less than gentle effects on sensitive skin, which I definitely have. At the same time, I know about the ill effects of all the harsh chemicals in commercial antiperspirants, specifically cancer-causing aluminum. So when Blissoma Holistic Skincare and Apothecary sent me a free sample of their all new Natural Deodorant Sprays and Scentless Stick, I was convinced to give it a try. This is my honest opinion of natural non-toxic deodorant that’s not diy. P.S. I got this product with no strings attached, simply for signing up for their affiliate program. Blissoma did not ask me for a review in exchange for this product sample, but since I was so impressed, I wanted to share my experience.

Conveniently enough, I got the samples right before my anniversary trip to Charleston, South Carolina. I was able to test the Juniper spray here in Nashville for two days before our trip. The Juniper, Lavender and Citrus sprays do not contain any sweat absorbing ingredients, only ingredients meant to prevent the odor-causing bacteria in BO. So I did sweat a bit during the day. But at the end of 13 hour days at work, walking during my lunch hour and playing with our dogs outside when I got home, I have to say I was really impressed. There was no BO smell, no irritated armpit skin and still a faint twinge of juniper. I couldn’t believe it. The lavender and citrus both smell nice, but I really liked the fresh smell of the juniper. Rest assured, these sprays are all natural, containing green tea, witch hazel, castor oil and essential oils. Much safer than carcinogen containing commercial antiperspirants.
I saved the scentless solid for our trip to Charleston though. Old Charleston is definitely a walking city. We went on walking tours, a Schooner ride in the bay and to a whole lot of restaurants. We also stayed in a beautiful historic home, the Governor’s House Bed & Breakfast. We walked an average of 10,000 steps per day on our five day trip, so I think Blissoma’s sprays and solid got a pretty good test. I know this because I wear my Fitbit One pretty much every day. After five full days of being in stinky airports, horse-drawn carriage rides and over 50,000 steps of tours, shopping and dining, I never once felt self-conscious about potential odor issues. Even at the end of a long day of touristy activities. Trust me, being on your anniversary trip at a romantic bed and breakfast definitely makes you think about those things, but every time I checked, I was good to go. Woot!
I’ll share pics from our trip in another post because there are really just WAY too many gorgeous photos to choose from to edit and watermark here at the airport. ;) But jotting down this post real quick was a snap because the products were so easy to use and performed so well. I’ll definitely be buying both the scentless solid and the Juniper spray when my generous samples run out. You can buy the same sample pack I received for $10.00. I’ve been using them exclusively for eight days now and I still have two whole spray bottles and about half the solid left. Visit Blissoma Holistic Skincare and Apothecary to get your sample pack today.

It’s funny that I got the chance to read this post because I’m transitioning from regular deodorants to more natural products. This was an honest and enjoyable post. Thank you!

Thanks Thriller Mom! I’m all about more natural products. We need to swap tips sometime. ;)

I need to look into these more! I am really conscience of what I eat so sometimes I wonder why I’m not the same way with my skincare products!

That’s a lot of people Julie. I need to be much more aware of what I put in my mouth instead. One step makes a big difference

I am seriously going to have to try on of these skin care projects! They make me think hard about the un-natural things I use so often!

This one is especially easy since you don’t have to make anything! I find most of the all natural alternatives are not only safer but work better!
